Neighbour Referral Scheme Terms

These terms sit alongside our general Customer Terms and our Privacy Policy.

1 What the Neighbour Referral scheme is

If you are a Slugist Standard subscriber, you can refer a neighbour to Hortimate. If they go on to take out a Slugist Standard subscription, we say thank you with a free Aquist holiday-watering visit — and we give your neighbour one too, to welcome them.

2 Who can make a referral

To make a referral and earn the reward, you must be a current Slugist Standard subscriber.

If you are a Club+ member but not a Slugist Standard subscriber, you are welcome to tell your neighbours about us, but the referral reward is only available to current Standard subscribers. You can refer a neighbour at a different property from your own, and you can refer family members, but you cannot refer yourself at your own property.

3 Who can be referred

The person you refer must:

  • not already be a Hortimate Club or Club+ member, and

  • be within our active service area (currently BH18).

We cannot reward a referral of someone who is already a member, and referrals cannot be backdated to someone who has already joined.

4 How the reward is earned

The reward is earned when the neighbour you referred takes out a Slugist Standard subscription, within 12 months of the date of your referral.

At that point, provided you are still a current Slugist Standard subscriber, we issue a free Aquist holiday-watering visit discount code to you, and a free Aquist holiday-watering visit to your neighbour. One free Aquist visit is given for each qualifying referral — so if you refer several neighbours who each subscribe, you earn a free visit for each of them.

The reward is a single Aquist visit per qualifying referral. It has no expiry date. Because Aquist is a summer service, your free visit is redeemable in any Aquist season — so a referral made over winter can be enjoyed in the season ahead.

5 How to refer

You can make a referral using the referral form in your member area. You tell us who you would like to refer and how to reach them. Before referring someone, please make sure they are happy to be contacted by us, and that you are content for us to mention that you referred them when we get in touch — we will name you as the person who recommended us, so they know who to thank.

We keep a record of referrals. When a new Standard subscription is taken out, we check it against our referral records, and where it matches a valid referral, we issue the reward tokens to both of you and confirm this to you.

6 Using your reward

Your free Aquist visit is offered as a 100% discount code which can be applied when you book an Aquist visit. Aquist visits are subject to our Aquist service terms. The free visit covers a single Aquist holiday-watering visit. Any additional visits are charged at our normal Aquist rates.

7 Fair use

The scheme is intended to reward genuine recommendations to new customers. We may decline to issue a reward where a referral does not meet these terms, and we may change or withdraw the scheme at any time, though we will always honour rewards already earned.

8 Data and privacy

When you give us a neighbour's details, you are sharing another person's personal information with us, so please only refer someone who is happy to hear from us. We use the details you provide solely to contact the person you have referred about Hortimate, and we handle them in line with our Privacy Policy. If the person you refer would prefer us not to hold their details, we will remove them on request.

9 General

Our general Customer Terms and our Privacy Policy apply to the Neighbour Referral scheme. Where these terms cover something specific to the scheme, they apply in addition to our general terms.
